A lot of the stage 'Variety' entertainers found that tv killed off their careers, but the bigger names often found a home on Radio 2, so children growing up in the 60's, such as my adorable self, would have these walking antiquities bequeathed/inflicted upon us. One annoying little fucker was Jimmy Clitheroe.
