Always exciting live, always disappointingly weedy on record, GLORIA MUNDI were a tense, brutal live thing, with a noir theatricality which saw them moping to one side of Punk, and they evaporated before Goth took hold, but they so were obviously Goth, just a touch too early. They also left a lasting impression on Bauhaus who looked dead normal when they supported them, and yet next time you saw Bauhaus they were dark noblemen. They didn’t do it knowingly, or brazenly, they just learnt from the experience, but their friends later pointed out it all changed when they supported Gloria Mundi.
