ON THIS DAY ... in 1995 - VERUCA SALT, MARION, SKUNK ANANSIE, 60FT DOLLS
NME event at the Astoria - (202 photos)
An epic post! If you become a paid subscriber you get 202 photos rom this gig, and it’s worth becoming a paid subscriber as there’s a couple of thousand photos each month, as well as daily reviews, with interviews starting next month. An annual paid subscription works out at just over a fiver a month (a monthly subscription being seven quid). I’ve set it at the lowest subscription rate there is on substack, so it’s all a massive bargain.
60FT DOLLS
I don’t remember much about them except the singer was being a stroppy arse, like Paul Weller gone wrong, and when he slipped on some water and fell on his arse the whole venue erupted in laughter!
SKUNK ANANSIE
Seems weird to think they were third on the bill. Needless to say they blew everyone else off.
MARION
Very cool and clearly destined to be massive, only for Jaime’s drug problems to ruin their forward momentum. A tragic case.
VERUCA SALT
An unusual headliner, but feisty fun throughout.
