I have no real recollection of what it was that inspired Elastica into having a spot of middle class angst but for some anti-media reason they decided to have this NME-hosted gig (one of a series) go ahead with no lights. Yeah, right on! Leaving aside the simple fact that without the music papers the band wouldn’t have got anywhere quite what they were going on about remains a mystery.

Now, if they wanted to play in virtual darkness, that’s fine. Their choice. But it affected the supports too. Ludicrous really.

Anyway, I got what I could.
