SUCK HENRY - DISCOGS

FINN PANTON - DISCOGS

A wonderfully noisy band that existed from 1991 - 1994, and today I would like to specifically point out Camden legend Finn Panton (R.I.P.) on guitar. If you look at his Discogs entry he’s credited with having been involved with thirteen bands. Suck Henry aren’t mentioned, and nor are at least two others I’m aware of in Wart Farmers and FAETD. I bet the final tally tops twenty at least. Finn was everywhere around the North London scene, from his brilliant record stall in the market near the Electric Ballroom, to his basement shop near Mega City Comics, where he’d sell anything on a 50/50 basis.

He also had good links to the bootlegs coming in and was often the first in town to have titles available, and bands would often give him recordings they would like to see come out for fans, knowing he could pass these on to the relevant parties. His enthusiasm for music knew no bounds, and even when he knew he was seriously ill he managed to continue being in Seeds Of ‘77 and Menace. He deserves a blue plaque of his own in Camden somewhere, but where exactly would they put it? Maybe a dozen plaques then. Pepper the area.

But … that’s not what I wanted to mention. Check out his Antish t-shirt. One of Finn’s projects has pretty much the best, and most pertinent, name ever in terms of explaining itself. FAETD. It stands for Fuck All Else To Do. Just one of many reasons why whenever I see some of my old photos that feature Finn it makes me smile. He was that type of character.
