The two Steves and Phil look like they’ve bunked off school, and will be middle-aged now, such are the horrors of nostalgic photography, but here was a fine UK band who may have been indie grunge in a way, but with a post-punk vitality rather than anything lurching or downbeat. They left one excellent album and four spiky singles, and were fantastic live. Only Phil has kept going it seems, including a lot of work with Spear Of Destiny since 2018 onwards, plus with Joe Elliott, The Quireboys and Jim Jones before that.
I wasn’t generally interested in bands like this at all but Neil who ran the Butterfly Evolution nights at the Bull & Gate and had a great ear for interesting bands put me onto them, and he even managed them for a bit. I ended up seeing them quite a few times because they were so good.
