ON THIS DAY ... in 1989 - SHOOT THE JOKER
26 photos of the noir indie wild beasts at the Bull & Gate, 20th March 1989
It’s always sad when there is no online presence for a pre-Internet band, but such is the case with SHOOT THE JOKER, a band I always enjoyed live, and the demos I have also sound fresh and inventive, like a less flowery, de-fussed Mission as much any anything, The dual vocals and dual guitar attack could be exhilarating at gigs, as the songs rose and sank with a glorious, gleeful drama. Sadly and somewhat shockingly both vocalists Floyd and Debs (who did later work as the duo Blind) have both died, meaning no-one will probably ever get to hear those songs again.
