ON THIS DAY ... in 1989 - CARTER USM
38 photos from the CARTER USM gig at Defiance, 27th October 1989
One of the UK’s best ever indie bands doing Jon Beast (R.I.P.) a favour by playing the opening of his new club after he'd left the Bull & Gate. He temporarily set up shop at the Tally Ho! pub directly opposite the Bull & Gate, with people like me, Steve Lamacq and Leeson O’Keeffe promising to cover any initial losses. Unfortunately he had problems when the venue insisted some soundproofing would be essential due to locals complaining about the racket, so by 1990 the adventure was over.
