Bull & Gate, also including Mancubs and The Wigs (27 photos)
Over the course of the next seven days there’ll be regular reviews now my cold is finally abating and, for paid subscribers, over 640 photos, which is why a paid subscription makes sense. Free subscribers get access to the most recent two weeks of reviews, plus some photos, paid subscribers get access to the full archive, now thirteen month strong.
(Tomorrow we’ll be having Antonina, P.U.M.P., Faith Over Reason and Carmines.
Monday: Adverts, Sham 69, Junior Manson Slags, Purple Rhinos, Who Moved The Ground?, Sweet Jesus and Winterset,
Tuesday: Galley Slaves, Gouge, Powder and Star 69.
Wednesday: Specimen, Concrete Garden, Minxus and Hopper.
Thursday: Bedflowers.
Friday: Beef, Popinjays and Sweet Jesus.)
Right, two gigs that took place on February 10th from the Bull & Gate, from 1988 and 1989 today.
In 1989 we have MANCUBS opening, a band formed by members of punk bands Action Pact and Dead Man’s Shadow. Only one track ever made vinyl, included on the Gunfire & Pianos compilation I organised with Situation 2 while at Zigzag.
Then we have 11th INTERNATIONAL DENTAL CONVENTION, who apparently saw a banner advertising said event and stole it as their backdrop, deciding that was a good way to choose a band name. They were wrong.
CATHAL COUGHLAN, simply doing a gig under his own name before Fatima Mansions became a thing.
And THE WIGS, looking a bit weird.
The rest of the photos follow for paid subscribers.
