THE POPINJAYS - DISCOGS

Those fabulous Popinjays, Polly Hancock and Wendy Robinson, began as a duo and then through the next few years went trio/quartet as a natural thing. They have a mate on trumpet here, so anything was possible. Abbo signed them to his Big Cat label for the wonderful ‘Don’t Go Back’ EP, then it was off to One Little Indian for six further singles and three albums. Post-Pops Wendy has gone on to hold important positions with national children’s charities and Polly is a professional photographer who during lockdown started the amazing Punk Girl Diaries fanzine with Ruth Miller (R.I.P.). During the last ten years or so there has been sporadic live Popinjays activity, as and when they can arrange it or feel like having fun.

The sweet wrappers you see below represents the cunning marketing plan they had, whereby they lured music journalists in to review those early gigs, and it worked well!
