Get them drunk, get them chatty, that was my usual approach. Certainly worked here and I ended up with enough quotes to share this across House Of Dolls and Melody Maker. Cafe Munchen was famous at the time for importing the strongest German lagers. As a music journalist you developed a ferocious tolerance for alcohol as you were ‘working’ in pubs and venues all day long, all week, all year. Bands could never keep up, no matter how eagerly they’d try.
