TWO were an intriguing band. A lovely couple, Gill Benn and Iain Saunders, they released one album and several singles across Future and Reflex Records in 1983/1984, generally a hotbed of punk and a very weird place for their electronic post-punk which would have been more at home somewhere like Glass Records. Ahead of their time, this was low budget dark ambient with vocals. Furthermore, their enigmatic quality proved quite bizarre in that when I interviewed them for Zigzag they seemed genuinely baffled by the process, barely able to bring themselves to proffer opinions. The first attempt went so badly I did something I’d never done before and implored them to give it a second try. The cat in the photos probably had more understanding of what was going on.
Their album, “Dreaming Spires”, is a lost post-punk gem I would recommend anyone snapping up should you ever see a copy.
