F1 ELECTRIC (below) were a brave band trying to something odd live with linked video accompaniment on screens while they played. It was interesting but confusing, the music dark but still perky. (39 photos at the Brixton Fridge, 28.1.84.)

2 LOST SONS were a brilliant dance indie band, both albums highly recommended:

DISCOGS

This gig was extra memorable because of the weird old drunk who managed to wander in off the street. Also a nice shot of two greats (Jon Beast and Steve Lamacq) in conversation. (10 photos at the Bull & Gate, 28.1.88.)

DESTROY THE BOY were a classic indie pop band with short, sharp hard hitting songs. Sadly chose to go the indie-dance route when they didn’t need to, and thereby missed out on the NWONW phase which led to Britpop. Cold have been contenders! (33 photos at the Bull & Gate, 28.1.89.)

DISCOGS

GRETSCHEN HOFNER

Lively bunch, but that’s all I can recall. Only saw them this once. (10 photos at the Marquee, 28.1.92.)

RUB ULTRA

DISCOGS

More indie weirdness, and that bizarre bass! (19 photos at The Garage, 28.1.94)
