ON THIS DAY ... in 1982 - PEAKADELIC

I can tell you nothing about the band, or show any online evidence because there is none, but as you can probably tell from the photos they were great fun live and I managed to see them four times. A jumbled up set of jaunty indie rock they’d probably go down brilliantly at alternative festivals these days but back then they were just loveably weird. I think the singer was called Shemi Valentine (?) and he had a golden voice. I was doing A&R scouting for a label at the time and dragged the boss man along. He said he would have signed him solo in an instant but as a band he couldn’t see how you’d handle them.
