THE WEEKEND SWINGERS (named after a rare vintage Adam & The Ants song), is comprised of Dorothy ‘Max’ Prior (Rema Rema, Psychic TV) on drums, Paul 'Peanuts' Stahl on guitar, Jay Strongman singing, Marco Pirroni (new Ants) on guitar and Andy Warren (old Ants) on bass. They have fun doing covers including ‘Ring Ring’ (Abba), ‘Move It’ (Cliff) and ‘Brand New Cadillac’ (Vince Taylor, who inspired the song of the same name, easily the standout track, on Adam’s woeful “Blueblack Hussar” album). The band later morphed into a more organised El Train who released the “Action Style” single in 1985, with Stahl and Strongman still involved. Dorothy has recently written and published Sex Is No Emergency and 69 Exhibition Road.

And remember folks, unless someone has flyers categorically proving otherwise, Billy’s is the earliest real Goth club identified in the country. Five Bauhaus gigs there during just the January and February of 1980. Demand a blue plaque!
