TEMPORARY TITLE were an ebullient pop-punk band who released a couple of lightweight singles but were excellent live. I have some pics of them at the Rock Garden coming up soon also. The John Bull was a weird place for gigs. It was a big pub with a small stage plainly visible by the whole of the main part of the pub so could, had it been handled properly, have been as big and well known as the Fulham Greyhound, maybe even bigger. I don’t think they really bothered promoting it much. I only went a few times and a small crowd looked really tiny in there, so the lack of atmosphere was a total turn off.
Their cover of ‘Tell Him’ featured Martin Atkins (then Brian Brain, on to PIL and Pigface) on drums. Keyboard maestro Billy Surgeoner had played on Cuddly Toys’ ‘Guillotine Theatre’.
