SKI PATROL almost a ferociously enigmatic band, seen here at the Moonlight. Best known for their simmering and seething ‘Agent Orange’ single they were a short-lived band, just of many entities fronted by the great Ian Lowery (R.I.P.). Having already made an impact with an earlier band, The Wall, he went through F For Fake and Phantom White Limb, before establishing himself through Folk Devils, the well Gothic majesty of King Blank, then the Ian Lowery Group. During the later years before his untimely demise there was also work under his own name and then Drug Of Choice.
Ian’s brother David has done a stunning job in unearthing many gems connecting these bands (check the bandcamp page for amazing discoveries), even including a band before The Wall, The Prefabs, whose videos on youtube provide a tantalising glimpse into Ian’s lyrics, proving that even in 1977 he was a cut above.
