THE PRETENDERS were never cool but they exuded confidence, and were almost effortlessly effective live. Nobody really did much onstage, they just let the songs pour out. Except with the brilliant b-side of the ‘Kid’ single, ‘Tattooed Love Boys’, that always churned the crowd up.
