It's Jeff!: Infinity Paws #1, Fantastic Four #1, Beneath The Trees Where Nobody Sees: Rites Of Spring #1, Supergirl #3
One duff, one okay, one fabulous, one essential.
Well this is bizarre, cute and downright delightful. Virtually every known pet in the Marvel universe team up, exasperating some of the Guardians Of The Galaxy, wresting the infinity stones away from a nasty villain and eventually helping the Avengers crush an overpowering enemy. Jeff sings a bit.
Why is it happening? Because it can. The best bit is when the villain in space has them cornered and announces he has arranged a huge contest in which all must take part but he loves the sound of his voice so much that when he finally finishes speaking and turns to view them scornfully he finds they’ve all fallen asleep.

Not a fan of The Fantastic Four. Never have been. The Mr and Mrs element of Reed and Sue struck me as simpering bores, Torchy boy always seemed so undefined, and it was only The Thing that kept them even vaguely entertaining. Here we have a new series starting, after the old just left off last month, and as far as I’m aware the creative team hasn’t changed so why are they bothering with a number reset? (I only got this for the cover.)
They’re trying to defeat Doom, so I have to assume that boring storyline is still weaving through the Marvel Universe. He sends them back through time, Torchy to before human life became possible, Thing to the dinosaur age, and Reed to the 13th century. They all find the Forever Stone, which will enable one of them (in this case Sue) to retrieve them all. Unfortunately she has been sent forward to when Earth has no human life as it’s too hot, and she can’t find the Forever Stone which may have melted I guess. Oh dear.
Clever, but actually rather boring.

Beneath The Trees was probably the critically acclaimed series of last year, in which a much loved docile bear in the local animal community turned out to be a serial killer.
So now the sister of a victim, unaware of what had happened, is still looking for her brother eight years after he was murdered. This weary but determined duck named Monica will not rest until she finds out what happened to Danny. She bothers police precincts all over the city, post messages everywhere and finally, one day, gets a response telling her to try a small town she’s never heard of.
When she arrives in Woodbrook she is befriended by the very bear that messaged her, Samantha. They set off together.
Spoiler: Samantha is the killer.

I only got this because of the cover. I had no idea Kara had a cat, called Streaky. A stroppy little character. I was aware there was an imposter Supergirl in town but knew nothing else, and am relieved the story is actually quite funny. The imposter is no longer impersonating Supergirl, but instead uses black kryptonite to throw Kara into a spin, as she gleefully becomes Satan Girl. It all works out in the end and she and the bad girl are set to become best buds when her parents turn up from some mysterious galaxy and inform Kara that both girls will be transported away and face judicial review.
The artwork is pretty shocking, otherwise this would be a surprise joy.
