The late 80’s and early 90’s was a great time for live bands while the indie scene was still capable of turbulent sounds, with creeping blandness still a good five years away. One of the very best bands of this era was BEEF, who left us some excellent records, as you will discover when perusing the discogs link, but even among their contemporaries they had a reputation as one of the bands to catch live. There never was such a thing as an average or adequate Beef gig.
So I interviewed them for the magazine BITCH MENTAL that Finn Panton (R.I.P.) was putting out, on the day they played the Rough Trade records basement in Covent Garden.
